Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the United Nations stressed that the Syrian crisis must be resolved peacefully and in accordance with the principles of international law.

Iran PressAmerica: At Friday's UN Security Council meeting on the situation in the Middle East and Syria, Majid Takht-Ravanchi warned of the illegal presence of some foreign forces, separatist groups and terrorists in parts of Syria.

Referring to the unstable situation in Syria due to the continuing aggression of the Israeli regime against Syria and the illegal presence of some foreign forces, separatist elements and terrorist groups in parts of the country, he warned that the situation will have an adverse effect on the security and stability of the region and International peace and security.

He emphasize the need to continue the work of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, expressing hope that the sixth meeting of the committee would be held soon.

Regarding the Syrian reconstruction process, he said: "Conditioning the reconstruction of Syria or the return of refugees and displaced persons to the progress of negotiations in the Syrian Constitutional Committee or similar issues will only prolong the suffering of the Syrian people."

Takht-Ravanchi stressed that the Syrian crisis must be resolved peacefully and in accordance with the principles of international law, respecting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country and without interfering in its internal or external affairs.
