Iran presidential election kicks off

Tehran (IP) - Polls opened at 7 am local time and boxes will close at 3 am on Saturday.

Iran PressIran news: The 13th Presidential Election in Iran started at 7 am on Friday and will continue until 3 am on Saturday, under the full compliance with the health protocols.

The head of the election headquarters in Iran, Jamal Orf, stated that 59,311,307 people are eligible to vote.

He noted that polling stations had increased due to COVID-19, with nearly 67,000 urban polling stations and more than 75,000 rural ballot boxes.

Mohsen Rezaei, Ebrahim Raisi, Amir-Hossein Ghazizadeh Hashemi, and Abdolnaser Hemmati are the four candidates for the 13th Presidential Election in Iran.

The result of the 13th Presidential Election in Iran will be announced by noon on Saturday.

The Guardian Council had qualified seven candidates for the Presidential Election, but three candidates withdrew from the race.

In addition to the Presidential Election, the sixth Elections for City and Village Councils, the mid-term elections for the fifth Assembly of Experts, and the mid-term elections for the 11th Islamic Consultative Assembly are underway today.
