Tehran (IP) - The fate of Iran's Sohrab Moradi and Kianoosh Rostami for being sent to the Tokyo Olympics will be determined in the next 8 days.

Iran PressIran news: Vice-Chairman of Iran's Weightlifting Federation said the World Federation of Weightlifting would release the names of those qualified for the Tokyo Olympics and the countries' national federations will make the final decision in this regard.

Davood Bagheri mentioned Ali Davari and Ali Hashemi as two weightlifters whose names were registered in the country's list of 109 and +109 kg categories. Yet, he said they had a higher chance of bagging medals sent to the Olympic competitions.

"Of course, if the officials of the World Weightlifting Federation respond positively to Kianoosh Rostami's request to allow for his points in Swiss qualification competitions, he will achieve the Tokyo Olympic quota," Bagheri said.

Referring to Sohrab Moradi, he said it would take long until June 27 so that the names of the top Asian weightlifters are released, and in case a 96 kg-category weightlifter cancels his participation quota, it would go to Sohrab Moradi.
