Tehran (IP) – Head of the Iranian National Olympic Committee announced Iran's readiness for sports cooperation with Afghanistan.

Iran PressIran News: In a meeting with his Afghan counterpart at the National Olympic Committee, Reza Salehi-Amiri stated on Sunday: "We have long been interested in sports cooperation with Afghanistan, a friendly and brotherly country."

He noted that the cooperation could include active development and continuity of sports relations between the two countries, the exchange of coaches, and training.

"It is important for us to strengthen relations in gaining international seats," he said.

The Head of the National Olympic Committee and the Minister of Sports of Afghanistan, Hafizullah Wali-Rahmi, also said: "We are very interested in sports cooperation with Iran, but COVID-19 delayed the meeting. Afghanistan's sport has its own problems that we want to address in sports cooperation with Iran. This trip is a great achievement for Afghanistan."

At the end of the meeting, Salehi-Amiri addressed his Afghan counterpart and said that Iranian sports institutions were ready to hold a sports Olympiad in Iran and even in Kabul and form a committee.

The head of the Afghan National Olympic Committee also welcomed Salehi-Amiri's proposal.
