The Director-General of Iran’s Foreign Ministry's West Asia Department said that Iran would support the peace process in Afghanistan.

Iran PressAsia: In a statement on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan announced that Mirwais Nab, Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs of Afghanistan, met with Rasul Mousavi, the director-general of Iran’s Foreign Ministry's West Asia Department on Saturday. 

Welcoming Mousavi, Mirwais Nab spoke to him about the latest political and security developments and the peace process in Afghanistan.

He called the continuation of the Islamic Republic of Iran's support for the government and people of Afghanistan in the peace talks and its efforts to establish a regional consensus to support this process important and valuable.

Explaining the purpose of his visit to Afghanistan, Mousavi described the relations between Afghanistan and Iran as historic and credible, stressing Iran's continued support for the peace talks.

The two sides also discussed the importance of signing a comprehensive document on cooperation between Afghanistan and Iran, strengthening bilateral relations, expanding health, education, border, and consular cooperation between the two countries, and the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in ensuring peace in Afghanistan.
