Tehran (IP) - Iran’s President called for a more effective role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) over the recent developments in Palestine because the body’s mission was fundamentally to address the Palestinian crisis.

Iran Press/Iran news: In a telephone conversation with the Emir of Qatar on Thursday, Iran’s President Hassan Rouhani said: "The Islamic countries must work together to defend the Palestinian people and their freedom, and confront the hostile and racist actions of the Israeli regime, which got more intense during the last days of the holy month of Ramadan."

Rouhani referred to the Yemeni issue, stressing that the crisis of the country could not be solved through a military solution.

He also expressed hope that the UN-centered peace-seeking motives came to result in the country.

For his part, Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Khalifa Al Thani appreciated Iran’s stance over the recent developments in Palestine, saying:  "Qatar took the same stance as that of Iran’s in condemning the Israeli regime’s attacks on the Palestinians and called for the immediate end to the regime’s aggression as well as a more effective role to be played by the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in this regard."

Concerning Yemen, Shiekh Tamim said: "Qatar believed that there was no military solution to Yemen's problems and that the actors in the Yemeni scene came to the conclusion."
