Iran Press/ Iran news: In his remarks in 'the Joint World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day' press conference, Karim Hemmati said that frozen financial resources and the cruel sanctions made it difficult for Iran to vaccinate its people. Hence, countries want a fair distribution of the vaccine.
Hemmati noted that the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) must force other countries to distribute vaccines fairly because vaccinating just 20 powerful countries will not contain the disease.
"If it were not for the sanctions, the Iranian Red Crescent Society, as a leading member of the ICRC in the world, would have served all countries in all crises," he pointed out.
“With the surge of the mutated virus, 28 borders of the country were handed over to the Red Crescent to be controlled, and with the cooperation of the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Roads and Urban Development, the infected people were diagnosed to be treated,” he said.
Iranian Red Crescent has an excellent record in the world since the coronavirus outbreak.
“With 2 million volunteers and rescuers across the country, the Iranian Red Crescent Society is on the verge of its 100 and offers its services to people of the world, regardless of their religion and race,” he said.
Karim Hemati said in Beirut’s blast, the Iranian Red Crescent arrived there in less than 24 hours and provided assistance to the Lebanese for 19 days. Also, in the Armenian-Azerbaijani war, the organization assisted them.
