Tehran (IP) - Iranian karate authorities hope that a complete team will be sent to the Tokyo Olympics.

Iran Press/Iran news: In an interview with Iran Press News Agency on Wednesday, the Public Relations Director of the Karate Federation of Iran said the Iranian national karate team was currently in Portugal’s Lisbon and it would have a three-day competition in Lisbon’s Karate One Competitions. 

Mahmoud Mohammad said the competition was the last qualifying round of the Tokyo Olympics, and the fate of the remaining three Iranian karate quotas would be determined in the Kumite section.

The fate of the -67 kg weight category of the Iranian national karate team in the men's section, as well as two Kata athletes, would be determined before the Tokyo Olympics in the final karate competitions in Paris, he added. 

So far, Bahman Askari in -75 kg and Hamideh Abbasali in +68 kg weight categories have managed to achieve Olympics quotas.
