Baghdad (IP)- Upon his arrival in Baghdad, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that the interests of Iran and Iraq were intertwined, adding: "We want to expand Iraq's role in the region."

Iran PressIran news: The Iranian foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif arrived in Baghdad on Monday and have met with Fuad Hussein, Iraqi Minister of Foreign Affairs, and President Barham Salih in the second destination of his regional trip after Qatar.

"Today, in addition to the officials, I will meet with the Iraqi parties, and God willing, tomorrow I will go to the Iraqi Kurdistan region and talk to the brothers (authorities) of the region," Zarif noted.

He also said: "Iran and Iraq have excellent cooperation in railways, the use of common resources and economic cooperation and banking and financial cooperation and regional issues. Iraq has played a vital role in the region, and we want this role to expand every day."

Zarif's visit to Iraq and before that to Qatar is part of the development of inter-regional, regional, and trans-regional talks.
