The National Assembly of Pakistan has launched a comprehensive campaign to combat the ominous phenomenon of Islamophobia.

Iran Press/Asia: Pakistan Parliament Speaker Asad Qaisar said on Thursday that any act of insult to Islamic sanctities, including insulting the sanctuary of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and inciting the feelings of hundreds of millions of Muslims under the pretext of freedom of expression, was unacceptable.

He said the Pakistani National Assembly has also begun consultations with Muslim representatives in the European and North American parliaments to highlight the issue.

Qaisar also said that he has decided to write a letter to all the Speakers of the National Assemblies of the world on the subject of "Islamophobia".

He said: "In this letter, all officials and chairmen of the national assemblies of European and Western countries will be asked to study the phenomenon of Islamophobia in Western societies and the ways to stop it."
