Tehran (IP) - The spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) said that Brigadier-General Mohammad Hosseinzadeh Hejazi had chemical injuries since Iran and Iraq war, known as sacred defense, and had been hospitalized at times.

Iran PressIran news: Deputy Commander of Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Qods Force Brigadier General Mohammad Hosseinzadeh Hejazi, who was suffering from a chemical injury, passed away on Sunday evening.

Brigadier-General Ramazan Sharif, the Spokesman for the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC), said about the cause of death of Mr. Hejazi: "He was constantly present in the resistance front and carried out several missions; in organizing the resistance front."

The IRGC spokesman said that he had suffered from COVID-19 disease a few months ago and was recovering.

He added: "In a session that we held at Baqiyatallah Hospital, the doctors concluded that the main reason for Hejazi's martyrdom was due to his chemical injury."

He noted: "Hejazi was more familiar to the Zionists in the last 8 years of his life due to his presence in the Resistance Front. The Zionists have been seeking his assassination for years."
