The Russian Foreign Ministry on Thursday evening issued a statement outlining the results of Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov's visit to Iran.

Iran PressEurope: In the statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry referred to Lavrov's meetings with senior officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran, including President Hassan Rouhani, Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, noting that the two sides conferred on bilateral relations, including the development of political consultations, trade and economic cooperation, with an emphasis on the implementation of important joint projects, as well as practical interactions to combat Covid-19.

"The foreign ministers of the two countries signed an agreement on the establishment and operation of cultural centers, which opens up new opportunities for the development of human relations and, in general, for a deeper understanding of unique cultures and traditions."

The two foreign ministers also discussed the settlement of the Syrian crisis, the situation in Yemen, Afghanistan and the Persian Gulf region, the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh on the basis of mutual respect and mutual interests.

According to a statement from the Russian Foreign Ministry, during Lavrov's visit to Tehran, both side's approach to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and related issues were also discussed in the multilateral context along with other important issues on the international agenda.

The Russian Foreign Ministry concluded by noting that the two sides had agreed to continue talks on all issues of common interest.
