Ashgabat (IP) - Iran's Foreign Minister met with his Turkmen counterpart Rasit Meredow and consulted over bilateral ties, regional issues, and the cooperation between the two countries on international organizations.

Iran Press/Asia: In the meeting held on Thursday, Mohammad Javad Zarif stressed the two countries' cooperation in the environment, transportation, and innovation areas and consulted with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov over cooperation in the Islamic Cooperation Organization (ICO).

Meredov, for his part, referred to the achievements of the bilateral ties of the two countries in different areas and stressed the utilizing capacities to expand the relations and the holding of the next round of the joint commission of economic cooperation. 

The peace process in Afghanistan, cooperation in the field of regional and international organizations, and multilateral cooperation in the region were among the other topics discussed by the Foreign Ministers of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Turkmenistan.

The foreign ministers of the two countries also signed a cooperation document today.
