Russia (IP) - The fifth shipment of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine named Sputnik V will be sent to Tehran tomorrow.

Iran PressEurope: One week after sending the fourth shipment of Sputnik V to Iran, the fifth shipment will be delivered to the representative of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Russia on Wednesday.

The fifth shipment includes 100,000 doses of Sputnik V and will be sent to Tehran tomorrow (Thursday).

So far, 410,000 doses of vaccine have been sent to Iran, and with the fifth shipment, the total number of vaccines sent to Iran will exceed half a million doses.

The Russian Sputnik V has been approved in 57 countries. According to a research, the vaccine has an efficacy of 91.6% and, it is effective against variants of the virus.

On Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron talked about issues of global security as well as the possibility of authorizing and producing the Russian-developed Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine in the EU.

The leaders paid particular attention to joining efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic, including the possibility of registering, using and producing the Russian vaccine Sputnik V in European Union (EU) countries.
