Lahore (IP): The cultural representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore and a number of cultural and literary figures of the universities of the Punjab province during a meeting stressed the need to use the capacities of the Persian language in reviving the common cultural heritage of the two countries.

Iran press/Asia: The cultural attaché and Director-General of the Cultural Center of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Lahore, the capital of Punjab, Jafar Ronas met with the men of culture and literature of the universities of this province and discussed various cultural issues of the two countries, especially Persian language and Iranian Islamic culture.

In this cultural meeting, in addition to the heads of faculties and professors of Punjab University, the heads of Persian language and literature of other universities, including Lahore State University, LCWU Lahore College For Women University and several parliamentary and government officials were also present.

Referring to the interest of the people of Pakistan, especially the people of Lahore, in the Iranian language and culture, Salim Mazhar, Vice-Chancellor of Punjab University, said: "Many of our customs are derived from the culture and civilization of Islamic Iran."

While announcing his readiness to cooperate with the cultural center of Iran for the development of cultural relations between the two countries, he stated: "Allameh Iqbal's Persian and wise poems and his emphasis on the connection between the people of the subcontinent and Iran, have guaranteed good ties and good neighborly relations between Pakistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran forever."

Jafar Ronas also appreciated the warm hospitality of the scientific and cultural figures present at the meeting and said: "The cultural, linguistic, historical and artistic commonalities between the two neighboring and brotherly countries are so deep that the capacity for activities in various fields is already provided."

He noted: “The Cultural center of the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to cooperate in all fields of culture, research, science and art in the two neighboring countries.”
