The chairman of Iran's Olympics Committee, Seyyed Reza Salehi

Tehran (IP) - The chairman of Iran's Olympics Committee said the conferring of the 2020 World Cup qualifying host to Bahrain was the result of the collision of the world and Asia's football.

Iran Press/Iran News: Seyyed Reza Salehi-Amiri said FIFA's meaningful two-week silence violates Iran's football rights.

Salehi-Amiri criticized the move as against all of the athletic principles and ethical codes, which he maintained should be considered within a bigger political puzzle.

According to the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), Bahrain will host the final four matches of the Iranian national football team in Qatar's qualifying round of the 2022 World Cup.

Normally, Iran would host three of the four matches in the return round, and Bahrain would do so for only two matches.

Iran is in the same group as the football teams of Iraq, Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Cambodia.

In the first round of the competition, Iran's team has won 2 and lost 2 games and has stood third in its ranking group, with 6 points.
