Iranian Army team wins national polo competitions

Tehran (IP) - The polo team of Iran's Army Ground Force gained the championship of the 'Martyr Soleimani Cup' national competitions.

Iran PressIran News:  According to Iran Press, Isfahan and Samand's Qasr Firoouzeh teams stood second and third places, respectively.

The national championship polo tournament 'Martyr Soleimani Cup', in honor of the Fajr 10-Day, was held with the participation of Samand Qasr Firoozeh, Army Ground Force, Naghsh Jahan of Isfahan, and Gilan's Rakhsh Talesh teams.

The organizer of the polo competitions, Mohammad Sahpouri said in an interview with Iran Press on Friday that the matches were welcomed and most of the polo players participated for the first time in formal competitions. 

"The players present in the competitions will be a good support for the nation polo team," Sahpouri added.

The Polo Federation Chairman, Ebrahim Nozaee for his part told Iran Press: "Although the outbreak of the coronavirus caused delays in sports programs, the Iranian polo federation managed to hold a good annual sports calendar for several matches, except for a few ones".

"Through holding virtual training classes, polo enthusiasts attend to learned the sport," he added.
