Tehran (IP)- Regarding the news published about the recent attack in Erbil and some suspicious rumors in this regard, a Foreign policy spokesman said: "While these rumors are denied, the suspicious attempt to attribute it to Iran is also condemned."

Iran PressIran News:  Saeed Khatibzadeh stressed that Iran considered Iraq's stability and security as a key issue for the region and its neighbors and rejected any disturbing actions in this country.

The spokesman called on the Iraqi government to sue the perpetrators of this attack.

 A rocket attack on Monday night at around10:00 p.m. local time on a US base in the nearby Erbil airport, capital of Iraqi Kurdistan, killed one civilian contractor and injured one US service member, as well as injuring five other contractors.

Four of the injured contractors were American, according to a US defense official. 

The contractor who was killed was not an American citizen, according to multiple defense officials.

According to local media reports, at least one local civilian was killed in the attack, which also struck a nearby residential neighborhood. 

Saraya Awliya al-Dam took immediate responsibility, announcing to have fired 24 rockets in the attack.
