Iran Press/ Europe: Deputy Health Minister and Head of the Food and Drug Administration of Iran, Mohammad Reza Shanesaz said that the purpose of the visit was for Iran to get familiar with Russian vaccine technology in order to jointly cooperate in the development of vaccines.
He referred to the signing of a memorandum of understanding in COVID-19 development and research area between the Pasteur Institute of Iran and the Gamaleya Institute of Russia on Monday, saying: "The two countries continue the cooperation in this field."
"On Wednesday, we will discuss with the Russian Minister of Health the signing of a memorandum of understanding for the joint production of Sputnik V vaccine," Shanesaz said.
Shaneshaz had previously said that under a contract with Russia, Iran would receive two million doses of Sputnik V vaccine from Russia and that in addition to domestic production, Iran would use other reliable sources to produce the COVID-19 vaccine.
The head of the Food and Drug Administration, referred to the delivery of the first shipment of Sputnik V vaccine, saying: "The first shipment arrived in Iran and other shipments of this type of vaccine will be delivered one or two weeks in a row."
The deputy minister of Health and Medical Education and the head of the Food and Drug Administration arrived in Moscow on Sunday at the head of a delegation.
