Tehran (IP) - The 34th Kharazmi International Award and 22nd Kharazmi Youth Award closing ceremony was held in Tehran.

Iran Press/Iran News: This ceremony aims to recognize and introduce innovators who seek to improve people’s living conditions worldwide.

At the 34th Kharazmi International Award, 202 projects (47 Iranian and 26 from other countries) were introduced, out of which 17 projects were referred to the jury.

In the end, 8 Iranian, one Chinese, one from Switzerland, and one special nominee were selected.

At the 22nd Kharazmi Youth Award, 276 projects were registered, out of which 15 were referred to the jury, and finally, 9 were selected.

Iranian Minister of Science, Research, and Technology, Mansour Gholami, as the keynote speaker of the ceremony, said that holding such ceremonies was an opportunity to honor those who could take effective science and technology steps.

These awards highlight human sources as the main capital of each country, he noted.

"In the last two decades, our country focused on turning knowledge into practice and technology, but still a long way lies ahead to expand knowledge-based activities," he stated.

"We need scientists not only in technical fields but also in human sciences too," Gholami added.

Highlighting that Iranian universities are among the world's top centers, the minister said: "We can benefit them by training powerful human forces."

Pointing to the imposed sanctions on Iran, Gholami said: "We should preserve the capacities and try to create more for the future."
