Saeed Khatibzadeh, the spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, announced the issuance of a statement at the final meeting of the countries guaranteeing the Astana process.

Iran Press/Iran News: Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh in this regard said: "On the sidelines of the fifth meeting of the Syrian Constitutional Committee, which is being held in Geneva from January 25 to 29, the three countries of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Turkey after meeting and consulting with Syrian delegations and United Nations Special Envoy for Syria Geir O. Pedersen, issued a statement to report their discussions.

Regarding the provisions of the statement, Khatibzadeh said: "While welcoming the consultations held within the framework of the Syrian Constitutional Committee and the role and actions of the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General, the three countries will continue consultations at the next meeting of  the Astana peace process."

He added: "This joint statement once again reaffirms strong commitment to the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity of Syria and emphasizes the need for all parties to respect these principles." 219
