Vienna (IP) - Iran's ambassador and permanent representative to the Vienna-based international organizations, announced on Wednesday that research and development activities have begun to design an upgraded fuel for Tehran's research reactor.

Iran Press/Iran news: Kazem Gharibabadi, noting that the Director-General of the International Atomic Energy Agency released a report today, informed the member countries, said: "This activity is done in three stages, and in the first stage, metal uranium is produced using natural uranium."

Gharibabadi, noting that Iran's plan was notified to IAEA two years ago, said: "This measure will technically place Iran among the leading countries in the production of new fuels."

He also added: "All these steps have been notified to IAEA and the Agency inspectors also visited the fuel plate production plant three days ago."
