Iran's Presidential candidates must submit their plans to Guardian Council

Tehran (IP) - Following Iran's parliament's decision, the Guardian Council was allowed to invite the candidates to submit their plans three months prior to the official start of the presidential election to initially examine the candidates' ability and competence.

Iran PressIran News: In today's (Sunday) public session, MPs approved Article 11 of the amendment bill to the articles of the Presidential Election Law with 191 votes in favor, 23 against, and 8 abstentions from the 255 present members. 

The article states:

In line with the general election policies based on the initial identification of the candidates' abilities and competencies, and if the candidates' candidacy is determined, the Guardian Council may invite them 3 months before the issuance of the presidential election order to review their plans based on the conditions of this law and the criteria required by the Guardian Council for general election policies.

The note to this article states:

The Ministry of Intelligence, the IRGC Intelligence Organization, the General Inspection Organization (GIO), the Supreme Audit Court, and other competent authorities are required to provide documents or records related to the presidential candidates within 15 days from the date of the request of the Guardian Council Election Office or, if necessary, any member of the Guardian Council.
