The meeting took place during the Warsaw Forum, Grossi said, adding that they discussed the activation of the “snapback” mechanism and the importance of finding diplomatic solutions.
France, the UK, and Germany (the E3) activated the snapback mechanism, reinstating six former UN sanctions on Iran.
In response, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has worked hard to prevent the sanctions’ return. Iran tried to keep talks going with the E3, offered to restart cooperation with the IAEA in Cairo, and made new proposals at the UN General Assembly. However, these efforts were rejected by the E3 and the United States.
