Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with International Atomic Energy Agency chief Rafael Grossi on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York on Monday.

The talks, held at Iran’s U.N. mission, focused on Tehran’s cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

Deputy Foreign Ministers Majid Takht-Ravanchi and Kazem Gharibabadi also attended.

Araghchi stated that progress depended on other parties fulfilling their responsibilities and refraining from excessive demands.

Grossi praised Iran’s “positive approach,” citing a recent agreement reached in Cairo.

Foreign Minister Araghchi arrived in New York on Monday to attend the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

Upon his arrival at the UNGA, he said, "Today I will have several bilateral meetings and talks. We will also meet with Mr. Grossi to discuss the latest developments in Iran-IAEA cooperation agreement, and the snapback process currently underway in the Security Council."

He continued: "In a press conference after the agreement with the IAEA, I emphasized that if the snapback is eventually implemented, the agreement with the IAEA will be invalidated. The cooperation agreement with the IAEA was made in a post-aggression context, and if the snapback is implemented, we will face new conditions. If the destructive action of the three European countries in the Security Council is ultimately carried out, Iran will respond, and we will again enter a new phase with the IAEA. Today, we will discuss the details of these matters."

Araghchi further added: "I will meet with the foreign ministers of the major European powers, and this is a moment when the opposing sides must decide whether they choose the path of cooperation or confrontation."

Recently, Araghchi and IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi signed a new cooperation agreement in Cairo, mediated by Egypt.
