Vienna (IP)- Russia's permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna opposed a new nuclear negotiation with Iran instead of the JCPOA and pointed out that negotiations for any new deal with the country will last for many years.

Iran PressEurope: In a Sunday tweet, Mikhail Ulyanov said that some analysts advocated a better deal with Iran, but they forgot that that "the perfect is the enemy of the good", adding "The return to the original deal is by itself a big challenge".

Ulyanov stressed that any attempt “to improve” the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action) would require years of negotiations without any guarantee of a positive result.

Earlier, with the regard to the future outlook of the deal, the Russian envoy said prediction about the issue is difficult, but there is still a chance for negotiation between Iran and the US.

He noted that the JCPOA could be returned to its former condition and the re-participation of the US.

On Tuesday, May 8, 2018, US President Donald Trump unilaterally withdrew from the international agreement and announced the return of nuclear sanctions, in violation of Washington's commitments under the JCPOA.

Trump's move has drawn widespread domestic and international condemnation.
