Damascus (IP) - Iran’s ambassador to Syria held a meeting with the Syrian Foreign Minister on Sunday, stressing further strategic cooperation.

Iran PressMiddle East: Iran’s Ambassador to Syria, Javad Torkabadi, in a meeting with the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Faisal Mekdad, referred to the assassination of Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, the Iranian martyred scientist and head of the Research and Innovation Organization of the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics and said: “The Islamic Republic of Iran will never be defenseless and powerless in facing such barbaric crimes."

Torkabadi also stressed Iran's will to expand relations and strategic cooperation with Syria in various fields to address the common challenges facing the two countries.

Syrian Foreign Minister also said that the assassination of an Iranian scientist affects the whole world.

He went on to say that the international community should condemn the move and that the United Nations should take responsibility for fighting terrorism and adhering to international law, otherwise the region will see more tension.
