Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku Abbas Mousavi stated that Iran demands security and peace in the region.

Iran Press/Asia: "The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan have warm and cordial relations for many reasons and this includes the historical, cultural and neighborhood commonalities," said Abbas Mousavi, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Baku.

He added: “Iran wants its neighbors and countries in the region to be in peace, stability, prosperity, and tranquility.”

Referring to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the role of neighboring countries in it, the Iranian ambassador said: "Azerbaijan and Armenia, with the help of Russia and the initiative previously presented by the Islamic Republic of Iran, reached a good understanding which was welcomed by Iran." 

Mousavi said that Iran is opposed to any occupation and separatism, adding: "We are opposed to any oppression, and we stated that during the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict." 219
