Tehran (IP) - The first meeting to review the progress of corona vaccine production in Iran was held on Monday in the presence of senior representatives of the World Health Organization in the West Asian region and its representative in Tehran, Iran’s Minister and officials of the Ministry of Health and research teams via video conferencing.

Iran PressIran news: In this meeting, which was held at the permanent exhibition of the Executive Headquarters of Imam's Directive in Tehran, the latest achievements of Iranian researchers regarding coronavirus vaccine platforms, including 6 platforms dedicated to the pharmaceutical department of the Executive Headquarters of Imam's Directive were studied and researchers exchanged information with each other in this regard.

'Saeed Namaki', the Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran, while appreciating the holding of this ceremony by the Executive Headquarters of Imam's Directive, said: "Iran will soon be recognized as one of the leading countries in the field of Corona vaccine."

Namaki added: "Coronavirus vaccine platforms in several Iranian companies have successfully passed the first and second phases and are going through the third phase.

The Minister of Health, Treatment and Medical Education of the Islamic Republic of Iran also referred to the oppressive US sanctions against Iran amid the coronavirus crisis and called on the World Health Organization to support Iran’s  great scientific steps regarding the production of the Corona vaccine at the peak of the oppressive sanctions

In the continuation of this meeting, representatives of 6 Iranian companies whose platforms for coronavirus vaccine have been approved by the World Health Organization, expressed their achievements regarding the study stages of manufacturing, and testing of the COVID-19 vaccine.

'Ahmad Al-Manzari', the Director of the Regional Office for the Eastern Mediterranean at the World Health Organization, also expressed surprise at the scientific achievements of Iranian researchers in producing the coronavirus vaccine and said: "One of the methods that are being followed in Iran is completely new and unique."

Christoph Hamelmann, World Health Organization (WHO) Representative in Iran, also expressed his satisfaction over the scientific and pharmaceutical developments in Iran and said: "The use of all methods and platforms by Iranian researchers to make the coronavirus vaccine is a sign that political restrictions imposed have not had any effect on the scientific progress of the Islamic Republic of Iran.”
