Iran Press/ Iran news: In response to a question about the map published in cyberspace and that it is said that Iran no longer has a border with Armenia, Khatibzadeh said: "Last week we had a series of baseless media machinations. Fake maps were published that were merely media machinations. Cyberspace has created an opportunity that some are taking advantage of."
"Our border forces and the responsible institutions are monitoring the developments. The United States has had an ominous legacy for our region namely war and the bloodshed and displacement of nations," Khatibzadeh said.
He touched upon that the Islamic Republic of Iran has welcomed any permanent solution to the crisis and has tried to resolve this issue peacefully for the past three decades. "Any action that contributes to this process will be welcomed by Iran. We think the path is well known and clear. The Iranian plan, which was presented to the capitals, has serious overlaps with the space that is moving forward. The geographical borders of Iran and the region have not changed and not only the borders of Iran but also the borders of the region will not change."
The foreign ministry spokesman added: "It is a simple transit road and how to ensure security and its various issues should be discussed. Iran is following the issue with vigilance and sensitivity, and our representatives in the capitals are following the issue vigilantly. Neither the border has been changed nor will Iran accept any change outside of what it has announced."
Regarding Iran's role in resolving the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Khatibzadeh said: "No issue can be formed outside the normal routine, just as no actor outside the region should pave the way for the presence of foreign countries in the region, and we have said it explicitly and those who should get the message have taken it.
Assassination of al-Qaeda leader, Hollywood scenario
The foreign ministry spokesman referred to the assassination of an al-Qaeda leader in Iran: "Everyone knows who al-Qaeda is. We were a united front against the Takfiri ideology. These scenarios are not something that clings to Iran."
He added: "The one who claims should come and say what he has done. It is a world tragedy for the Zionist regime to become a mercenary of the United States and, as the famous saying goes, to hire terrorists and take the money and assassinate people on this part and other parts of the world. In the occupied territories, their policy is to assassinate Palestinian leaders.
Khatibzadeh noted: "Regarding the claim of the New York Times, the sources who give these fabricated leaks to the newspaper should concentrate on where they killed this person. These accusations are not worth answering. These create Hollywood scenarios."
Europe, US must fulfill commitments under JCPOA
Still, with regards to the Iran Nuclear Deal, the possible return of the United States to the pact, Khatibzadeh said: "It is too early to comment because the new US government has not yet come to power. We are an established government and we only comment on an established government. The elected US administration knows that the inhumane policy of maximum pressure, in the words of the shameless US Secretary of State, to keep the Iranian people hungry that will not happen, is a policy that has completely failed and has not achieved any of its goals. Europe and the US must fulfill their commitments.”
He added: "The solution is nothing more than the full implementation of the JCPOA and they must be fully committed to their obligations."
Takfiri terrorists must leave region
Regarding the Iraqi Defense Minister's visit to Iran, the foreign ministry spokesman said: "The focus is on cooperation on issues related to security and so on. Agreements have been reached with the Central Bank of Iran, and we hope that this path will be implemented quickly with the efforts of the Iraqi side. We expect the other party to fulfill its obligations without delay. Iran-Iraq relations are multi-layered and popular and deserve serious attention from decision-makers in both countries."
Khatibzadeh also said: "We do not tolerate any foreign actor, especially the occupying regime of Quds in our region. There are numerous reports about the presence of Takfiris, and we constantly hear from sources that these reports are not accurate. The credible reports that reach us are that the Takfiris have left the region from Syria to Iraq and the borders that we know."
