Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeid Khatibzadeh rejected Israeli media report indicating an al-Qaeda terrorist group member's assassination by a Mossad operative inside Iran as a "Hollywood scenario".

Iran PressIran news: Saeed Khatibzadeh, in reaction to Israeli media allegation which also published recently by the New York Times alleging the assassination of an al-Qaeda operative inside Iran, strongly rejected any presence of the terrorist groups' members in Iran.

He advised the media not to fall into the trap of Israeli and US regimes' officials in such "Hollywood scenarios".

"Washington and Tel Aviv from time to time try to shirk responsibility for the criminal activities of this group and other terrorist groups in the region to connect Iran with such groups by lying and giving false information to the media," the Iranian spokesman said, noting that the al-Qaeda terrorist group is the result of the wrong policies of the United States and its allies in the region.

Referring to the US approach against Iran, Khatibzadeh said: "Although the US made false accusations against the Islamic Republic of Iran in the past, this approach has become a permanent trend in the current Washington administration and the White House has tried to take further steps to implement its Iranophobia plan by repeating such accusations.”

He noted: "Without any doubt, such accusations are made in the context of a comprehensive economic, intelligence and psychological war against the Iranian people, and the media should not be a platform for spreading targeted White House lies against Iran."

US intelligence officials told the New York Times that Al Qaeda’s second-in-command and the widow of former al-Qaeda chief Osama bin Laden’s son were assassinated by Israeli agents on Pasdaran Street in Tehran at the behest of the US, three months ago.
