Tehran (IP) - Emphasizing that Iran will take revenge for the Iranian top general Qassem Soleimani from his assassins, the IRGC chief commander said that Lt Gen Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis had the most decisive role in the fall and overthrow of ISIS.

Iran PressIran News: Speaking on Sunday at a meeting with Iraqi Defense Minister Juma Anad Saadoun at the IRGC headquarters, Major General Hossein Salami stressed that this revenge has nothing to do with following the legal process of the martyrdom of Gen Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, noting: "Of course, we are sure that the children of Iraq will avenge the blood of Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis."

"Undoubtedly, in the Islamic world, the most decisive role in the fall and overthrow of ISIS and the Zionist and American plans in the region was played by Lt. General Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis,” he added.

The IRGC commander said that Martyr Soleimani started the defeat of ISIS from Iraq and Iraq was the beginning of Soleimani as the commander of the resistance movement. “His main rise was accompanied by his martyrdom, and the Americans could not see this glow, so they tried to destroy him.”

Emphasizing the need for the Americans to leave the country, General Salami noted that the expulsion of the Americans from Iraq must be done per the resolutions of the Iraqi parliament, and this is the general request of the Iraqi people.

Iraqi Defense Minister Anad Saadoun, for his part, said: “Iran provided vital assistance during the critical period of ISIS' invasion of Iraq. Our brothers in the Islamic Republic of Iran helped us in the fight against ISIS terrorism, and at that time, they gave us everything we needed, and we will not forget that.”

US terrorists assassinated General Soleimani, the commander of the Quds Force of the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC), along with Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, deputy head of Iraq’s Hashd al-Sha’abi, and their companions by targeting their vehicles outside Baghdad International Airport on January 3, under the direction of US President Donald Trump.
