Tehran (IP) - Special Assistant to the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament for International Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian said that a special court was formed in the Iranian judiciary from the first days of the assassination of Lt Gen Qassem Soleimani, and it pursued the case at national and international levels.

Iran PressIran News: In an exclusive interview with Iran Press on Saturday, Amirabdollahian said that in the interrogation stage of the case, the court followed its complementary path in a few meetings with Iraqi judicial, political, and security officials to issue a strong verdict.

He stressed: "Certainly, on the eve of the anniversary [of Gen. Soleimani's martyrdom], Iranian judiciary officials will issue an influential and very effective verdict against the perpetrators and spies in the case of the assassination of Qassem Soleimani."

At the international level, he said, various actions have been taken by the Iranian foreign ministry, and various documents have been registered in the UN, he said.

Amirabdollahian added that a meeting was recently held at the foreign ministry, and additional steps are being taken in the case of the assassination of the Iranian top general, which will be announced soon. 

The Late Commander of Quds Force of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) Lieutenant General Qassem Soleimani, who had traveled to Iraq on the official invitation of the Iraqi officials, was assassinated in the US air-raid in Baghdad on January 3, 2020, along with the second-in-command of Iraq's Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis and 8 companions by the direct order of the US President Donald Trump.
