Iran Press/ Middle East: In his Friday speech on the occasion of the birthday of the Prophet of Islam, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah condemned Thursday's attack in France's Nice, noting that Islam always condemns such actions by allegedly Islamic groups.
"If we assume that a Christian commits a crime, we cannot hold Christians and the Christianity responsible for that," said Nasrallah, noting the French authorities are not permitted to attribute a crime perpetrated by a certain individual to Islam and Muslims.
He said that no Muslim had described the crimes committed by the United States and Europe in Algeria, Libya, and Afghanistan as Christian terrorism, adding that to respect Islam as a religion, terms such as Islamic terrorism and fascism not be used.
Nasrallah further stated that instead of addressing the consequences, French officials must find and resolve the causes of the crisis and convince Muslims around the world that their claim to support freedom of expression is a solid one.
Noting that those who spoke about the Holocaust were sentenced to prison, he said freedom of expression in France and Europe is not absolute but is tied to security and political considerations.
Last Wednesday, Macron accused Muslims of separatism and vowed not to give up cartoons depicting Prophet Muhammed.
Various leaders of the Islamic countries have protested President Emmanuel Macron's comments against Islam and Muslims.
