Sanaa(IP)- Yemen's Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) including those at Darawan Camp have been suffering from famine and diseases.

Iran PressMiddle East: Now the camp's residents located northern of Sanaa have to deal with tough winter conditions. The tents filled with IDPs are scattered in different places across the sides of Darawan valley and the market of Hamdan district, Sanaa.

Conditions for these families are getting worse every day. Several families live in one tent and the fabric of some of the tents has been torn. Displaced families can't afford to buy food, winter clothes or fabric for their tents. Almost every family in the camp has its own story of suffering which needs the attention of UN agencies and local authorities.

Last April, the United Nations warned that "nearly one million displaced Yemenis are at risk of losing their shelter and access to food and medicine due to a funding shortfall."

The Supreme Council for the Administration and Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and International Cooperation stated in a report released early October that "the number of displaced families has reached 606,000 and 694 families, while the number of displaced individuals reached four million, 168,000, and 301 individuals in 15 Yemeni governorates".

The report pointed out that hundreds of thousands of displaced people are living in a humanitarian catastrophe for more than five years because of the ongoing Saudi-US aggression and blockade, which caused the worst humanitarian crisis in the world.

The report stressed that the United Nations Organizations declared reducing aid and closing projects in Yemen in a time which the camps lack the most necessities which with the suspension of food and medicine aid will increase the spread of diseases.

The report emphasized that the United Nations agencies deliberately failed to create sustainable projects for the displaced families that would help them to live a decent life, instead of the meagre aid that does not meet even their lowest needs.
