Tehran (IP) - Head of the national security commission of Iran's parliament said that many countries are volunteers to buy Iranian weapons, and today, it’s possible for Iran to trade arms.

Iran Press/Iran news: “Iran can respond to other countries’ offers regarding the purchase of weapons and can meet part of the country’s currency need,” Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Mojtaba Zonnour told Iran Press on the sidelines of the open session of Iran's parliament on Sunday.

Zonnour went on to say that although imposed sanctions improved Iran’s capabilities, it also caused expenses for Tehran since buying a spare part in large quantities could cost less than its production.

“Today, the way has been paved for us since our defense is based on indigenous productions,” he noted.

Today, after ten years, the Iran arms embargo have been lifted based on the UN Resolution 2231, the MP said.

It is not a big celebration though, since Iran has been deprived of its legitimate right like other countries, Zonnour highlighted.

Now, Iran can meet its need in defense with less cost, he concluded.

Despite opposition from the United States, a long-standing conventional arms embargo imposed on Iran has expired in line with the terms of a landmark nuclear deal between Iran and world powers.
