The former head of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), General (Retired) Faiz Hameed, has been arrested and is facing a military trial on charges related to corruption and violations of military laws.

Iran Press/Asia:  According to a statement released on Monday by Pakistan's Army Public Relations, the Supreme Court ordered an extensive investigation into General Hameed's involvement in a financial corruption case related to real estate development.

Following the investigation, disciplinary actions were taken against him in accordance with military regulations.

The statement highlighted that General Hameed, even after retirement, committed multiple violations of military laws, leading to his trial in a military court and subsequent arrest.

General Faiz Hameed's tenure as the head of the ISI, Pakistan's powerful intelligence and security agency, ended in October 2021. He was then appointed as the new army corps commander in Peshawar.

Former Prime Minister Imran Khan attempted to extend Hameed's tenure, which led to an unprecedented clash between the military and the government. This dispute eventually forced Khan to withdraw his decision, and General Nadeem Anjum was appointed as the new ISI chief, replacing Hameed.
