Iran Press/Iran News: It has been announced that 1.2 million tons of apples will be harvested this year from the orchards of West Azerbaijan Province, the country's largest apple producer.
Most of the apples of West Azerbaijan are produced in Urmia and Oshnavieh, Salmas, and Mahabad cities are in the next ranks, respectively.
In addition to meeting domestic needs, apples produced in West Azerbaijan Province are also exported abroad due to their high quality and storage and transportation capacity.
According to Shokrollah Hajivand, an official of the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad, Iran ranks third in the world in terms of both cultivated area and production, producing 4% of the world's apple.
