New York (IP) - The Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations, in response to the US claim that the Ansarallah of Yemen used an Iranian missile to target the Norwegian ship, stated that Iran has not provided any weapons to the Ansarallah of Yemen.

Iran PressAmerica: Iran’s ambassador to the United Nations has considered the US’s allegations against the Islamic Republic of supplying arms to Yemen as a smokescreen for Washington’s act of aggression against the Arab Peninsula country.

Amir Saeid Iravani made the remarks in a letter addressed to the UN Security Council on Thursday.

Stephanie Sullivan, the US deputy envoy to the United Nations, restated Washington’s accusations against Tehran of supplying arms to Yemen’s Ansarallah movement. Sullivan claimed that Iran's state-affiliated media had promoted the country’s supply of prohibited ballistic missile technology to Ansarallah.

Iravani denounced the American diplomat for “deviating from the agenda and once more misusing the Security Council platform to level unfounded allegations against the Islamic Republic on the situation in Yemen.”

Iravani added: “Iran regards these allegations as nothing more than a political agenda by the United States to cover up and legitimize its ongoing acts of aggression against Yemen's sovereignty and territorial integrity."

"The United States, along with the United Kingdom, has been conducting occasional airstrikes in Yemen's western provinces in an attempt to halt Sana'a's pro-Palestinian activities, which have been targeting Israeli ships and vessels heading towards the occupied Palestinian territories."

Iran's envoy to the UN, meanwhile, warned that, by repeating its allegations against the Islamic Republic, the US was “seeking to pressure UN experts to compromise their independent mandate.”

Iravani cautioned that the US's destructive approach undermines the impartiality of the Security Council and UN experts' reports, politicizing them. 219
