Iran Press/Europe: In an interview with a Russian network on Thursday, Ilham Aliyev pointed to the 30-year-old dispute and the instability of the 20-year-old ceasefire between Armenia and the Azerbaijan Republic, saying the current military conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh has once again shown the instability of the ceasefire.
Aliyev noted that the Minsk Group of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) was set up in 1992 to resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict in a specific context. Yet, he asserted it was still unclear on what basis the Minsk Group was established at the time of the collapse of the Soviet Union because the establishment of an alliance or the creation of a temporary format must be based on certain principles.
He maintained that the region's countries should be actively involved in the Karabakh dispute and provide the necessary guarantees to the international institutions, stressing that the Azerbaijanis should return to their lands in Nagorno-Karabakh.
