Tehran (IP) - More than 450,000 COVID-19 patients have been diagnosed with the disease in Iran, out of which nearly 380,000 have recovered, Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Sadat Lari said Tuesday.

Iran PressIran News: Lari said that so far, 453,637 people in the country have infected with the coronavirus, and 378,727 of the total infected people have recovered.

"According to definitive laboratory findings from yesterday to September 29, 2020, in the country, 3,677 new patients with COVID-19 were diagnosed, out of whom 1,847 of patients were hospitalized," said the health ministry spokeswoman.

Lari added that in the past 24 hours, 207 COVID-19 patients have lost their lives, bringing the total number of deaths to 25,986.

4,079 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition.

"So far, around 3,986,720 COVID-19 diagnosis tests have been conducted," the health ministry spokeswoman noted.

She pointed out: "Tehran, Isfahan, Qom, East Azerbaijan, South Khorasan, Semnan, Qazvin, Lorestan, Ardabil, Khuzestan, Kermanshah, Kohgiluyeh and Boyer-Ahmad, Gilan, Bushehr, Zanjan, Ilam, Khorasan Razavi, Mazandaran, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Alborz, West Azerbaijan, Markazi, Kerman, North Khorasan, Hamadan, and Yazd are regarded as red zones.

Lari stated: Kordestan, Hormozgan, Fars, and Golestan provinces are also on alert.

More than 200,000 have died in the United States, which has the highest number of coronavirus deaths, followed by Brazil, with over 140,000. Virus survivors may feel lingering effects for months.

In the ten months since mysterious pneumonia began striking residents of Wuhan, China, COVID-19 has killed more than one million people worldwide as of Monday.
