India (IP) - India's parliamentary elections are being held as the longest and largest elections in the world and will continue until June.

Iran PressAsia: The election is being held to choose the 543 seats of the House of the People or the lower house of the Indian Parliament known as the Lok Sabha, and nearly one billion voters have to vote for their desired candidates in several stages until June 1, 2024.

The third phase of the world's biggest election was held Tuesday in 93 constituencies and 11 states.

The National Democratic Alliance, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and The Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) Alliance of 26 parties, led by the opposition Indian National Congress, are the two main contenders in India's general election.

With the end of the general elections in the world's largest democracy, counting votes will begin on June 4, 2024.
