The Special Representative of the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran for Afghanistan called the unrealistic statements of the US representative Zalmai Khalilzad about the role of the Islamic Republic of Iran in the current developments in Afghanistan, irresponsible and a clear sign of Washington's inaccurate of perception of developments.

Iran Press/Iran news: Iranian diplomat Mohammad Ibrahim Taherianfard, said on Thursday night that the Islamic Republic of Iran has officially and explicitly supported the start of negotiations between the Afghan government and the Taliban while stressing its readiness to advance the process of real and lasting peace in Afghanistan.

He added that stability in Afghanistan is an integral and permanent part of Tehran's policy towards that country.

Taherian Fard said, remarks by US Special Representative for Afghanistan Zalmai Khalilzad on Iran, is due to the fact that those in charge of the Doha agreement made mistake on how to advance the real peace process, instead they justified the ineffectiveness of their policy by blaming other countries.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran recently issued a statement emphasizing that all issues and problems in Afghanistan can be resolved through dialogue and negotiation, stating that the withdrawal of foreign troops is an unavoidable prerequisite for achieving peace and security in Afghanistan.

Zalmai Khalilzad, US Special Representative for Afghanistan on Thursday at the US Peace Institute virtual meeting made false allegations against Tehran and called for talks with the Islamic Republic of Iran on Afghanistan.

The officials of the Islamic Republic of Iran have always stated that the focus of Iran's efforts in stabilizing Afghanistan is security by the Afghan government inside the country, and Tehran will spare no effort in this regard.

Afghanistan-US-mediated peace talks between the Afghan government and the Taliban began on Saturday (September 12th) in Doha, the capital of Qatar, but have so far yielded no results.
