The Consul-General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Quetta and the spokesman of the government of the Balochistan province of Pakistan discussed ways to develop cultural, economic, and social relations between the border provinces of the two countries.

Iran Press/Asia: Hassan Darvishvand, Iran's Consul-General in Quetta, met with the Spokesperson of the Government of Balochistan Liaquat Shahwani to discuss issues of interest, economic relations, and joint response to the coronavirus.

The two sides referred to the long-standing relations between the two countries, good neighborliness, historical, religious, cultural, and social backgrounds.

They stressed the need to expand cultural ties between the provinces of Sistan and Baluchestan and Pakistan's Balochistan and to develop border markets and jointly address the challenge of the coronavirus.

At a meeting in Islamabad on Thursday, Pakistan government officials approved a plan to build and operate three markets on the Afghan-Iranian border.
