Iran Press/ Iran News: In this meeting, Eslami emphasized removing any restrictions in order to expand transit and trade between the two countries and said: "Currently, Iran's cross-border transactions are established on 30 common borders with neighbors and health protocols are strictly observed at border points."
The two sides stressed the need for urgent action to lift transit restrictions between the two countries, expand regional cooperation, and develop strategic, economic, and trade cooperation, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic period.
Eslami expressed hope that the number of border exchanges with friendly countries, including Turkmenistan, would reach the previous level and even goes beyond it.
Referring to Turkmenistan's investment in one of Iran's southern ports, he stated: "This investment is one of the most important issues of cooperation between the two countries. We once again invite the representative of the Turkmen side to continue the negotiations in this regard."
The Minister of Roads and Urban Development said: "Iran's foreign policy is based on the development of cooperation, building trust and streamlining trade relations between countries, especially with neighbors." Eslami stated that the reopening of borders for exports and imports, as well as transit, is one of the goals in the field of road transportation.
Meredov also praised the state of rail transportation between the two countries, saying that in this field, the coronavirus pandemic has caused traffic disruptions and problems.
