Tehran (IP) - Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami said that today's trilateral agreement for renewing 1000 transportation lorries is another effective step in the year termed "Surge in Production."

Iran Press/Iran news: Delivering a speech in the ceremony to sign an agreement for the construction of 1000 transport lorries between Iran Khodro Diesel and Road Transportation Organization and Tose'e Taa'von Bank, Eslami said that effective mechanism was administrated to solve the problems in the country and whenever the old ones were not effective, new ones were replaced.

Referring to today's contract, the minister said that 1000 lorries will be renewed, but it is possible to increase the number to 5000; while our target is 65,000 ones in a three-year project.

Benefiting our indigenous technologies can help us to produce acceptable trucks and make them available in our transportation system and local market, Eslami added.

Head of Ministry of Mine, Trade, and Industry Jafar Sargheini also said that Iran Khodro Diesel is able to produce up to 30,000 heavy vehicles annually.

Sargheini stated that replacing vehicles that are more than 40-year-old with standard ones can reduce fuel consumption in one or two years, which is an essential step to be taken.

He also referred to a 21% increase in car production compared to the last year.

Head of industry and mine commission of the parliament Ezatollah Akbari Talarposhti in this ceremony also said that the parliament's responsibility is to help ministries to work on infrastructures and the banks should help them in this regard.

Akbari added that not only we can supply the country's needs, but also we can export.

The ceremony to sign a trilateral agreement between Iran Khodro Diesel and Road Transportation Organization and Tose'e Taa'von Bank, for the construction of 1000 lorries was held on Saturday at the Ministry of Road and Urban development by the presence of Minister of Road and Urban Development Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Ministry of Industry, Mine and Trade Jafar Sargheini and Head of the Industry and Mine Commission of the Parliament Ezatollah Akbari Talarposhti.
