Deputy Managing Director of the NIOC for Development and Engineering Affairs, Reza Dehqan

Tehran (IP) - Deputy Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for Development and Engineering Affairs Reza Dehqan said that the country's oil industry goal lies in creating job opportunities for Iranian contractors.

Iran Press/Iran News: Speaking at a ceremony for signing 13 contracts worth € 1.5 billion with Iranian contractors within to enhance and maintain oil production project, Dehqan stated: "The initial idea of ??the plan is to restore and increase oil production".

This plan was approved by the board of directors of the NIOC in 2016. It is sometimes said that this plan was put on the agenda when the United States withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA). Since agreements for the other Iranian Petroleum Contract (IPC) were no longer valid, the plan came into practice.

Dehqan stressed that 33 projects to maintain and increase oil production are in three stages, adding today, the total value of 13 contracts is around € 1527 million, and the estimated time for most of these contracts is 2 years.

He went on to say: "We have predicted that with the implementation of these 13 contracts,185 thousand barrels will be added to the country's oil production capacity."

Deputy Managing Director of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) for Development and Engineering Affairs concluded: "Our forecast is to reach 80% of the share of domestic production as we approach the first phase contracts. 4% of each contract is allocated to charitable activities."

Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Energy Commission of Iran's Parliament (Majlis), Fereydoun Abbasi also said that the Ministry of Petroleum can be a forerunner as well as a supporter in paying attention to universities, adding: "Industry should also be considered."

Abbasi stressed: "Sanctions and the resulting problems have had a great impact on the country's industrial development, and the oil industry is no exception."

"Paying attention to the internal capacity in this arena will be helpful", Abbasi highlighted.
