Mousavi expresses condolences to the flood-stricken people of Bangladesh

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Sayyed Abbas Mousavi in a post on his twitter account has voiced sympathy over the death of a large number of people in flash floods in Bangladesh.

Iran PressAsia: "Saddened by the loss of life, destruction of critical instructions, and displacement of millions of people due to the devastative monsoon flooding in Bangladesh. My condolences to the families of the victims and my sympathies lay with the government and people of Bangladesh," Mousavi wrote in his twitter message.

Heavy rains have resulted in huge inflows into downstream Bangladesh.

The monsoon, which usually falls from June to September, causes widespread death and destruction across the region every year. It destroys crops and displaces people in villages.

More than three million people across 21 districts are affected by the monsoon flooding in Bangladesh.

They have been left marooned with lost crops and livelihoods since the 23rd of July.

Meanwhile, more than 7.5 million people across the country are at still risk of flooding.  207
