Tehran (IP) - Iranian President stressed the significance of the utility projects' development, particularly amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Iran Press/Iran news: Hassan Rouhani said on Thursday that as the hospitals run by electricity and people are medically advised to wash their hands, utilities are of significant importance. 

Rouhani who attended the weekly ceremony of opening utility projects across Iran said that at the beginning of the victory of the Islamic Revolution 74 percent of the country enjoyed utilities and now 99.9 percent enjoy utilities. 

The president said despite the tough conditions due to sanctions and pressures, major parts of the inauguration projects are made by the Iranian experts, such as the electricity industry 90 percent of which is based on self-sufficiency. 

He referred to the corona crisis and said during the outbreak, Iran produced medical items for countering coronavirus, including masks and ventilators, part of which was exported.

President Hassan Rouhani traveled to Hormozgan Province, south of the country to inaugurate 18 utility projects with the Minister of Energy Reza Ardakanian in attendance. 

20 water and electricity projects put into operation in Hormozgan province with the presence of Iran's President Hassan Rouhani through video conferencing, 7 of which are related to the power distribution company.
