Tehran (IP) - Iranian Foreign Minister said that the continuation of the aggressive, brutal siege of Yemen by the Saudi coalition and seizure of ships carrying food and fuel to Yemeni people during the outbreak of Coronavirus is unacceptable.

Iran PressIran news: Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in a video conference with Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs Hisham Sharaf Abdullah on Tuesday said: "the Islamic Republic of Iran has always considered a political solution to the Yemeni crisis as the only way, and in this regard has had constructive cooperation with the Yemeni and international parties for the Yemeni peace plan.

Zarif described the way to stabilize and establish Yemen through maintaining territorial integrity, unity among Yemeni groups, and conducting comprehensive political dialogue between the various groups and parties to form a united and inclusive government, adding: "Yemen belongs to all Yemeni groups."

The Iranian Foreign Minister stated that despite some restrictions and sabotage, Tehran will continue its efforts to send humanitarian aid to Yemen. and added: " As in the past, Iran is making every effort to advance the Yemeni peace process with the aim of lifting the siege, establishing a ceasefire, and resuming political talks in a number of regional and international consultations."

Appreciating Iran's political support and humanitarian aid to the Yemeni people, the Yemeni Minister of Foreign Affairs reported to the Iranian Foreign Minister the latest political and field situation in the country and the future of the Yemeni crisis.

Saudi Arabia, with the support of the United States, the United Arab Emirates and several other countries, has launched a military invasion of Yemen since March 2015 and a land, sea and air siege.

The war has also taken a heavy toll on the country’s infrastructure, destroying hospitals, schools, and factories.

The UN says over 24 million Yemenis are in dire need of humanitarian aid, including 10 million suffering from extreme levels of hunger.
